overview

CAMPER’s “WALK ARTISTRY” Shanghai Tour is the brand’s first time collaborating with artists in the city. Initiated by CAMPER and KUBE (Hong Kong) Design Communications Ltd, Korean artist Jeongmoon Choi and Chinese artist Lee Chi have been invited to collaborate on the project, which will be situated at CAMPER’s Shanghai Gao’an Road Showroom. The featured artists’ courageous fusion of visual arts with nature will not only break any existing conceptions visitors have, but also boldly reimagine the way the everyday act of walking is perceived. Visitors to the project will be able to better understand the creative minds of these brilliant artists by taking a step with CAMPER and experiencing the brand’s unique combination of modernity and nature. By joining with CAMPER, you too can enjoy a whole new way of walking!

The “WALK ARTISTRY” project marks the first time that Korean artist Jeongmoon Choi is showcasing her art installation work in Shanghai. She has created an illusory space formed exclusively from light and lines. By combining light, line and colour, her installation beckons viewers to enter a maze-like space. As visitors marvel at a world created by unassuming lines, their gazes will inevitably drawn to the protruding geometric CAMPER logo. Her installation redefines the spaces between points, lines and planes to create a new artistic space for visitors to enjoy venturing through. As they traverse from point to point, visitors will be treated to a whole new kind of visual and sensory experience, as they become one with the artwork surrounding them.

About Jeongmoon Choi

Korean artist Jeongmoon Choi is an expert at employing the use of relative positioning to create works that speak directly to audiences. Her installations are excellent examples of her aesthetic expertise with fusing light and lines. She masterfully uses ultraviolet lighting in her works to create unique artistic spaces that blur the gap between visual sensations and reality. The elements of light and line in her works represent the manmade and the material respectively, while the fusing of handmade and machine-made elements helps build complex experiences that blur the line between illusion and reality. Her works inspire viewers to contemplate on the endless possibilities within, leaving them with rich experiences that won’t easily be forgotten.

About Lee Chi

Chinese artist Lee Chi is an expert at creating artistic works made from a combination of greenery and architectural elements. His ideal is to create artistic spaces that deepen the relationships between people and plants. His works focus on the experience of running through different types of environments, with a special emphasis placed on the slowing and rising of one’s breath as they walk at different paces. His works have a life of their own which can be experienced abstractly. By creating works that seemingly communicate with the space they are situated in, they possess nearly limitless possibilities for audiences to enjoy.
